Denege’s Art

Denege creates with pencil, pen and ink, and watercolors. Her sketch books are filled with drawings of the outdoors, from life. She says she falls in love with a scene and remains in it until it becomes part of her. She goes to a different location each week to draw and paint “en plein aire” with the Pine Island Sketch Group. She has won two awards.

When I make a  landscape painting outdoors, I enter a stage in which I become aware of the water vapor in the air. As the sun moves, I notice tiny reflections, prisms, and hues.
At that moment  I apply clean water and insert waves of color on my paper. ( I paint on 300 lb cotton paper—to  absorb all that water.) While I’m doing this, my spirit is soaring.”

Some of Denege’s original paintings are on display at the Randell Research Center Gift Shop, 13810 Waterfront Drive at Pineland, Bokeelia, Florida 33922.  Proceeds benefit the Randell Research Center.
